Re: Monthly Motivational Memo for November,
2011
This month marks the end of two years of doing this
Monthly Motivational Memo. Therefore, I feel the time is right to say farewell
to writing these in order to put more focus on writing about my current
situation, which is being a stay-at-home-mom of little ones.
I have two projects going on at the moment. The first is my next book titled “A Guru In The Nursery: 50
Ways to Remember Your Spirit While Changing Diapers” about how to maintain your
spirituality (and sanity!) during this time. The second is a blog (which will be my third book)
titled “A Fish Out of Water,” which is my humorous and
enlightening take on adjusting from the Corporate World to the At-Home Mommy
world. I continue to do presentations,
radio shows, and classes around “A Guru In The Office”
material as opportunities arise, but I feel it is time for me to move on.
That said, I will conclude these memos with the last
topic of the first section of “A Guru In The Office,”
which is “Final Thought Before Bed.”
After every evening, I like to read at least one inspirational quote,
paragraph, or some kind of daily guide before I sleep, even if I had not gotten
a chance to journal or meditate, which is more the norm for me these days,
anyway. Here are some suggestions to try
incorporating a pleasant “final thought before bed” for yourself
this month:
·
Review the inspirational
quote, card, or paragraph you had read this morning before you left for work,
if you are in the habit of doing that.
·
If you’re
technically inclined, review an inspirational e-mail you had sent to your PDA
or Blackberry.
·
Get a copy of Science
of Mind magazine. It has Daily
Guides each month. I always read those, which begin with two inspirational quotes,
then a message for the day, and it concludes with an affirmative treatment.
·
Read a page or
two of your chosen religion’s Holy Book, if desired.
Whatever you find that is quick and uplifting would suffice
so that you go to bed with a positive, comforting thought instead of anything
stressful or negative that has happened during the day or whatever you may have
to face the next day. The key is that it’s quick and it makes you focus on
something that clears your head before you sleep, so that you can have a better
chance of dreaming good things, and feel refreshed in the morning to start your
day in a positive frame of mind.
*****
My “final thought” I would like to leave you on the
subject of spirituality and stress management in the workplace is that it IS
possible! Someone once told me “you are
in the room to heal the room.” Just by
being yourself in the workplace – someone looking to be the best person they
can be and make a positive difference in the world – you have value. You have purpose. You are much needed. Keep on keeping on. It’s all good, because it’s all God!
May God bless you, and I wish you well on your
journey!
